three cheers for sweet revenge
Oh, I love the smell of victory in the morning - and more than that, I love the fact that the twisted spirit of revenge, of which I am a self-confessed enthusiast, is alive and well in the world of writing. Aw, I'm proud of you guys. [':
You know the deal - I'd tell you if I could, and I'll tell you as soon as I can. Stay tuned.

Hiya to any new readers from the Grumpy Old Bookman blog, nice to see you. :) Thanks as well to Michael for chatting with me, and being surprisingly friendly. Evidently I got him on one of his Amicable Old Bookman days.
As Mr. Allen said, this place isn't updated regularly, but I have a reason - it's for specifically work/writing-related news. I have a more personal/daily life Livejournal that's been updated almost daily since 2005-01-21, but it's more for friends, and I'm sure if you've followed the link here you're not too interested in emo outpourings. :P
However, I am active in plenty more places. The links from this blog occasionally mess up, so if they don't work for you, please copy-and-paste them. :]
Dragontamers.net is the site for the series that got me a mention in the blogs, but the main place to go there is the forum, the Writer's Block, which has a load of amazing, friendly people to hang about and chat with. You don't need to have read the books, or even like me, just as long as you're friendly enough and want to be a part of the community.
It's currently having technical difficulties right now, and support's being a git and not really helping, but I promise I'll have it up as soon as possible.
Used-Goods.net, the site you're currently on a sub-directory of (aka, you're reading the blog on it), is for all my personal work, a sort of portfolio site. It's in need of a few updates, so I'll put some new stuff up there soon, I just want to get the forum up and running first.
DeathByAbsynthe.net, and for the moment the more important MySpace site, is for my newest project, the melodramatic rock band Absynthe. If you're into a fairly dark style of lyrics with innuendo in buckets, catchy choruses and some nice metal-inspired guitarwork, you should like us. I'm doing lyrics/management for now, my boyfriend's co-writing the lyrics (between you and me, he's better), and our slightly unstable line-up consists of far too many people. Add us, comment us, we're all chatty and want to hear your views.
I could always post a sample of the lyrics up here some time too. :D
Thanks for visiting, feel free to keep looking around.

DT.net Back Online
Hey .netters, we're back in action. Sorry about the downtime - long and short of it is, I do not like asking people for money. To the extent where I ended up with 3 due invoices, 2 of which were overdue, for the dragontamers.net.
There are still a few odd things going on, the forum isn't working for me, for one, but I'm seeing to all of it.
Both the DT.net and Used-Goods.net need updated. I'll see to it soon.
Sorry about the downtime, guys. I love you, but alas, I am a mother who cannot afford to feed, clothe or house her children. It's still love, just not of a very fair kind.
EDIT: The DT.net is having some errors - the news script is messed up, and the forum seems to have corrupted something. I can't fix any of this because the FTP details aren't working. ><;; Sorry, I'll sort it soon, but I've been coding up to 3am and I have to get some rest now.
The good news is, DeathByAbsynthe.net has gotten some updates. Anyone want to test the waters and take a look at the place? Might not look very good in IE, haven't tested it there, only on Firefox and Safari.
Omg, wait, don’t judge meeeee!
I have a feeling that, to anyone who has just tuned in, I'm going to come across as a bit of a bitch. Ouch. Let me try to sort that.
Welcome to one of my many online haunts, the Forbidden Knowledge work blog. Can I get you anything - tea, coffee, water? A cookie? Help yourself, it's the Internet.
My name's Emma Urquhart, and my profession is that of a whorethor. Yes, you heard that right, whorethor. Like author, but with more whore. This basically means I am a filthy slut of a writer who would be all over most of her characters if left in a room alone with them, and also, that I write nothing more than erotica with more plot.
But I wouldn't suggest you take me all that seriously.
Wake Up, kthnx
*yawns, devours a few cups of caffine and hot water*
Hey, how is everyone? I'm... more stable, thank god, thanks to the wonders of love and having the most awesome boyfriend anyone could ever hope for. <3 I've also grown up even further, in ways I shall spare you the details of. *snickers*
Anyway, there seems to be some ruckus kicking up over Aultbea Publishing. Let me be blunt:
- Yes, they are a vanity publishers.
- No, I was not aware of it.
- Yes, I did leave as soon as I found out.
- Yes, it was I who had the contract terminated and withdrew the rights. We didn't upset them and get kicked out, that'd be fairly unlikely under the terms of the contract.
- Foreign rights are still ongoing despite my efforts to halt them. They bought the rights through the normal methods, albeit through Aultbea - therefore, the foreign editions are not vanity-published.
I have good relations with most foreign publishers at the moment - the only place I'd be wary of is the Greek edition, I have some queries about their cover and haven't received an answer yet.
EDIT: It's been sorted. :D The new Greek cover is awesome, and the guys over there are really nice and responded excellently to my issues. If you happen to be Greek, go get it.
- Do not buy the current English editions of "Dragon Tamers" if you actually want to read them. I've been pretty clear about the fact that, for the last year or so, I have NOT SUPPORTED the English translation - or, to be more precise, the lack of editing and proofreading (that I tried to fix, but in the end I had no power over it). Collectors and such can feel free, I can supply you with limited edition copies for a good price if needbe, and I have plenty of excess stock available, but the writing does not reflect my current level of skill and I'd rather not be judged by it.
Lastly, please be aware that despite being publisher under a 'vanity publisher', the book itself was more than just a vanity publishing - think DIY, punk-ethic product if you will. The books were supplied by the publisher, nothing more - advertising, touring, signing, writing, all of that took massive amounts of time and effort and should never be discounted. If this book was anything, if all the hype and rumours, the offered movie deals, the foreign rights, the trips abroad... if they show anything, then it's what can be achieved when you put effort and work hard on something.
The quotes from the publisher in the newspapers were bullshit, the very idea of Aultbea as a publisher was the same, but you all should know that fiction contains more fact to it than anyone would like to think, and this wasn't so much fiction as badly-translated truth.
I am doing nothing commercial for a while. You want stuff for me, you'll be getting it for free. Enjoy '07.
